Floppy Drive doesn’t show on My Computer

Floppy Drive doesn’t show on My Computer and you get the error “Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)” on the device manager.

Solution:

Run regedit then locate

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\                                                                       Class\{4D36 E980-E32511CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the right pane delete Lowerfilters and Upperfilters.
Restart your computer

Alternative:

If the issue still exists, repeat steps 1 through 6 to delete upper and lower filter entries for the following registry subkeys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\                                                    Control\Class\{4D36E980-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\                                         Control\Class\{4D36E980-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002

Then, open Device Manager. If your floppy disk drives are still  listed, remove them, and then restart the computer.
