 Do you need information from a website but instead of showing the page, you have this hateful message?

Copy the URL of the website you want to visit. Paste it on google search box. Hit Enter. Look for the Cached or Naka-cahed(Philippines). Now you have the information.

 You can do the same thing for websites with different error messages.

Get YouTube Videos using Unlocker

Maybe you are like me who wants to watch a video first before downloading it. Once you viewed a video, it will save a temporary copy on your hard disk so when you want to replay the video, you won’t have to wait for so long again. The problem with new Firefox versions is that you can’t copy the temporary file version of the video from your Temp folder. It will warn you that it is being used by a program (the browser). When you close the tab or the browser, the temp file will be deleted automatically. 

With the help of the Unlocker program, you can now copy the temp file. Just right click the temp file and click Unlocker to show the Unlocker window. Choose COPY for the action selection, then choose where to copy the file. Rename the file then change it’s file extension to .flv.

Reopen Recently/Accidentally Closed Tab

There is this feature of new browsers that enables you to open accidentally closed tabs. Isn’t that amazing? I never knew about this before and was very thankful when I learned it. 

• It can be found  on History Tab, then Recently Closed Tabs.
• You can also used the Ctrl + Shift + T shortcut.

* The shortcut works with Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Haven’t tried with other browsers yet.

There is this windows feature where in you can set your hardware settings. These hardware settings will be loaded during the boot process. For example, during boot up, you want to have a choice to disable the USB devices. You can do this with hardware profiles. What we are goin’ to do is to create a hardware profile which doesn’t do anything on your computer but will prevent your room mates from touching your thousand-dollar laptop. 

•  First, go to Hardware Profiles.
•  Create a new profile, then name it as “Delete all Files”
•  You can also try something like “Format drive C:”
•  Make sure to save it or hit OK.

That’s it. Whenever your system starts, a menu will appear containing that fake dangerous warning. Scary huh!

Y3K Bug

On the year 3000, your computer’s date will return to the year 1980. This will be the same as the Y2k bug. To check this thing, go to your calendar. Set the year until it reaches 2099. Adjust another year and it will go back to the year 1980.

Solve Hardware Interrupts

I had this serious problem ago that crippled my netbook for a month. I wasn’t sure what causes it until Process Explorer showed me that Hardware Interrupts causes it to slow down. It was using about 50 - 60 % of my CPU. Then I googled how to solve it and found this:

• Go to Device Manager
• Look for IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLERS
• Right click Primary IDE channel then Advance Settings tab
• Check Current Transfer Mode value
• If it is PIO, then that causes the problem
• If not PIO, check the Secondary Primary IDE
• If it is PIO, uninstall its drivers and then restart your computer
• After restart, Windows will install the driver then tell you to restart again
• The problem should be gone then..

How to unlock Samsung X510

"File Format No Longer Supported" in Visual Basic 6 (VB 6)

To solve this, search for .oca files in your computer then delete them. These are temporary files created by Visual Basic. They will be recreated the next time Visual Basic starts.

Can’t upload photos on friendster with the fancy uploader?

How to delete Chikka Message History?

Chikka has a feature to save the last 20 messages you receive or send. It is saved on their database and there is no feature for users to delete them. The primary reason why you want to delete your message history is so that other people that use the same account for example your friends won’t be able to read your messages. The best solution for this is prevention. You have to set your account not to save message history.. It can be done in the Preferences. But what if one day your friend enabled the feature then later on you use it without knowing that message history is enabled? Like I’ve said, there’s no way to clear the message history. But, they can be overwritten to hide the sensitive messages.

SUGGESTION:

Send useless messages for example to a mobile number or account id until the message history is overwritten with this  nonsense messages.That’s it. Just overwrite those sensitive messages then you’re safe.

Remove PC Sync 2 Syncronization Extension from Firefox

I had this problem before when I want to delete this Nokia PC Suite add on from firefox but wasn’t able because the Unistall button is grayed out on the firefox Add ons..

 If you want to remove this add on, just follow these:

go to Run, then type regedit, then press Enter 

 Then go to this registry path:

on the right pane, you will see extensions of firefox. Find one that has “Nokia Pc Suite” something then delete it..

 open Firefox then the add on must be gone already..

How to cancel Firefox Update

Have you accidentally clicked Check for Updates under Firefox Help menu or want to cancel the update after realizing you really don’t need to update Firefox? Restarting firefox won’t cancel the update.

To cancel the update:

close Firefox first

Go to c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\applications\mozilla

look for active_update (xml file) then delete it….

Win32/Sality.NAR virus

This is a virus I got from a Flash drive that shook my head for three days. Once ran in your computer, it will infect your exe files so when you run a certain program, the virus will also run. One of the symptoms when I got this were disabled task manager and registry editor, avira doesn’t run although it is set as automatic, ccleaner and procexp are rejected from execution. I was able to clean this virus using ESET NOD 32 (only the trial version). Noob Killer didn’t work as well as Super Anti Spyware, Spyware Doctor, AVG Antispyware, and Lavasoft SE.

Conclusion:

I therefore conclude that Anti-viruses are like an imperfect human. Some anti-viruses detect certain viruses while some just don’t/can’t.

How to remove winctrl32.dll in your computer

This file starts during windows log on..  The file is located in windows\sytem32 folder. You can’t delete this file  just by pressing the delete key or shift del key. Even using third party programs like tune up shredder , kill box won’t delete it even though you configure them to delete it during the reboot.  I tried fixing this manually using procexp but can’t solve it. So what I did is ” I installed super anti spyware free edition then did a quick scan. Detections were made and just required to reboot the computer. Then I was able to delete winctrl32.dll.”

Security certificate not yet valid (firefox)

Have you encountered this pop up window when you try to visit a website that uses security certificate to encrypt data?  For example mail.yahoo.com . Is it not annoying everytime this window appears? Usually, it happens when you removed recently your CMOS battery( which caused your computer clock/time to be changed differently to the real current time). So the only thing you need to do is to set your clock to current( that’s including the date and time).

OpenDNS server

This a free DNS server I’ve been using. I learned about this when I visited a forum about not loading images in friendster coz I had that problem before. My connection is set manually since it can’t obtain ip automatically. I manually set it with the default addresses my ISP uses including their own DNS server. In that forum, a solution states that using OpenDNS server will fix the problem so I changed my DNS servers and luckily it worked.

Change the DNS servers with: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

My very own school uses this Open DNS server. The only side effect of this is  ” your browser’s default search engine, for example if it’s google, will be changed to OpenDNS search engine. But it doesn’t do any harm.  Search and read some articles about OpenDNS before using it on your own. Their site is at opendns.com

There are still other public dns servers out there available, but in my case, it’s open dns. 

ISO files turn into RAR files after download

I experienced this thing. I downloaded an ISO file (Knoppix  with utorrent).. I knew it was an ISO file but after almost 7 hours of downloading,, I saw it as  rar file.. I was deceived… Lol….. But that was due to ignorance….. That file was really an ISO file but just appeared as RAR file. Soon I remembered that I configured WinRAR to open ISO files before…. So to  disable this and make that RAR file appear as an ISO file , I had to change a setting in WinRAR.. Well I’m not going to tell you how you are going to do it but I know you can do it,,, It’s just knowing how to read and knowing how to click the mouse.  It has something to do with WINRAR file associations..

Make browsing faster a little bit

This is just an easy step to boost a bit your browsing..

 The trick is to disable javascript on your browser since not all pages require javascript to fully work.

On firefox, click Tools, Options, Content tab and clear the button beside Enable Javascript together with Enable Java.

Do this if you think you don’t need javascript .. But for example, there are sites like i.ph, yahoo mail and friendster (when viewing photos) which require javascript to log in , you can just enable it anytime you want. 

Can’t clear DNS cache

Can’t clear DNS cache when repairing connection and ipconfig \flushdns doesn’t work.?

Solution: Run services.msc and make sure DNS Client is started and set its startup type to manual.

Floppy Drive doesn’t show on My Computer

Floppy Drive doesn’t show on My Computer and you get the error “Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)” on the device manager.

Solution:

Run regedit then locate

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\                                                                       Class\{4D36 E980-E32511CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the right pane delete Lowerfilters and Upperfilters.
Restart your computer

Alternative:

If the issue still exists, repeat steps 1 through 6 to delete upper and lower filter entries for the following registry subkeys:

No desktop, taskbar and start button after logon

Solution: 

Run services.msc, then search for RPL and RPL Locator. Make sure they are both set to Automatic not  manual or disabled. Restart your system.

Alternative: 

Try to make a new user account using the task Manager

What to do when you know you are being hacked?

The first thing to do is, disconnect your internet connection.

If you are connected in a network, disconnect the cable.

Check your settings and run a program like hijack to check for registry settings changed by the hacker. 

**To be safe when surfing the net, use a windows limited account so that hackers will also have a limited access on your system..  

Troubleshooting Windows Sound

Does your computer produce sounds? If not it is most likely that some settings were accidentally changed or some programs changed some settings. 

 I’ve got this one suggestion to try if only your system has no sound..

On the run Command , type services.msc

A window will appear.

On the right pane, .look for Windows Audio, if it is set to Automatic make sure it is  started.

If it is set to Disabled or Manual, change it to Automatic then restart your computer.

Your sound should be working now..

If the solution above doesn’t solve the “no sound problem”:

It can be that you have a faulty sound card and that you need a new one.

It can be that you have faulty speakers and it’s time to purchase a new one.

It can be that you haven’t installed yet the audio drivers.

Or it can be that you need to reinstall your operating system because it is completely corrupted.. 

    *But reinstalling the OS still won’t solve the problem, you have to reinstall still your sound drivers .

*WITH ONBOARD SOUND CARDS

      Built in sound cards also need drivers. Reinstalling the operating system will mean reinstalling the sound drivers. If given, you have to use the motherboard CD to reinstall them. The problem is if you don’t have the CD or you lost it. What you do is to know what is your motherboard and go to the manufacturer’s site for available drivers.

How to remove Silent Soft

What I’m going to tell you is how you can find the silent soft files…  First thing you do is to run task manager ( Ctrl Shift Esc).. End Silenft Soft under the process tab.. One of its effects is when you double click your drives, error pops up..

I would like you to right click one of the drives then click Explore ..Click Tools then Folder Options..

On the View tab, check Show hidden files and folders and uncheck Hide protected operating system (recommended)

Press ok… you will notice Silent soft now on windows explorer. Delete it together with aurorun.inf…

Do the same thing to the other drives,..

not yet over… open up regedit… then search for silent soft.. then delete all the keys that will be searched.. try restarting the system.. hope it helps

OK.. Here is a new thing I found out:

There’s now a program to easily delete silent soft and other worms like Hacked by Godzilla and more like when  your Folder Options, regedit ,cmd and task manager are disabled…

NTLDR IS MISSING

Few days ago, I had this problem on my windows xp pro. I accidentally deleted a file ntldr on C: path. It is a system file.. To view this you can set in Folder Options not to hide system files. It is just one of the important files needed in the process so don’t mess with them. In my case, i got  a SilentSoft virus on my computer from a usb that’s why I had to manually delete the files coz my anti viruses were not able to eradicate them. The reason why I deleted ntldr was “I didn’t know what it was for. I rebooted but suddenly it kept on telling me that I have to press ctrl alt del to restart. So I followed it for several times. The worst thing happened next was my system starting automatically showing nothing on the screen. So I decided to take it to a repair shop , SKM. I found out why it  was showing nothing, it was because one of my memory cards wasn’t working. And about the ntlrd missing, they just reformatted my system and was solved without losing my important data for they were all inside my parition drive. 

*DON’T MESS WITH NTLDR

*CREATE PARTITIONS FOR YOUR PERSONAL FILES to protect them when reformatting in case you have to. 

Regedit, Task Manager and Folder Options Malfunction

Last year, I’ve got a file on my usb named “New Folder”. It has a folder icon ( the yellow one). I thought it’s a folder that’s why I clicked expecting some files to appear. I didn’t know that it was an executable file because of the icon. I just found out Regedit, task manager and folder options don’t work anymore. When I typed regedit on the run line, pop-up window appeared saying it was disabled by the administrator. Why would I disable regedit especially task manager? I’ve been using these apps. Soon I discovered it was a virus. I run process xp to view the services and programs running because I couldn’t use task manager. I found out this strange process named scvhost.exe highlighted with red. I killed the process then opened up Tune Up Utilities 2007 which was a trial version. I used its Registry Editor to delete the disable registry, disable task manager and no folder options keys along the HKCU path. Then under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Winlogon path, there was a key shell there with a value explorer.exe scvhost.exe. I deleted scvhost.exe so it won’t run again on the next log on.  I went to c:/windows then deleted the file scvhost.exe. Then used ExplorerPortable Xp not the windows explorer and went to c:\windows\system32 then erased scvhost.exe. I used ccleaner to delete the start up key for yahoo mesengger which was using the file scvhost.exe.

You can get this scvhost.exe by clicking files that appear to be folders like smss.exe, New Folder.exe and explorer.exe. So never click them…

*You can actually manually solve any viral issues without relying much on Anti-virus programs. 

Alternative Solution:

Catch songs that can’t be downloaded

Have you been into a website like imeem.com where in it allows you to stream and listen to songs? What if you want a copy of a song but you can’t download it? Of course there are sites that download these songs for you. But what if those websites won’t be available soon?
